Having worked with Kemal on upgrading our villa Kisla Falls, it was a no brainer to engage him to work on our second villa. He worked with us to meet the design brief of upgrading and complementing the more traditional style of the villa, offering suggestions and ideas to ensure the concept was fulfilled.

The project was done in 2 stages over 2 years. The end result is gorgeous.

What I particularly like about Kemal is his generosity with his time and expertise, eg listening to my ideas, offering suggestions to ensure the idea could be materialised, taking the time to draw up plans and reworking plans until the design concept and technical side was perfected.

I’ve always found Kemal to be refreshingly honest and fair in his costings and working with us, both in terms of working with our budget on the build works as well as with the maintenance side whilst we have been renting. His attention to detail is fabulous.

His language and communication is excellent. There is no “lost in translation”. He’s a very informed and supportive person to work with especially if you are remotely working with him.

We had heard so many good things about Kemal's eye for design and quality of work that we had no hesitation in appointing him to convert a detached “basement” area of our villa to a beautiful self contained apartment.

The project was by no means straightforward as the rear wall of the building is effectively a retaining wall backing onto our garden for its full height - rain water permeating the walls of the building had been a problem ever since we bought the property.

Kemal devised a solution to the water ingress problem and a design for the layout of the apartment which met all our requirements and made the most of the available space. He kept in touch with us throughout the project to check and double check on the finer details and the result is a beautiful one bedroom apartment with a lovely bathroom and stylish open plan kitchen and living room. “ I bought Villa Siv in October 2021. It was built in 2001 and was absolutely out-dated, with three bedrooms and only one bathroom. Outside there were no outdoor patios, except on one side of the pool, with space for only two sunbeds. I contacted several construction companies and Kalkan Redesign gave the best quote. It was very detailed and gave me no later surprises.

I had some basic thoughts about what I wanted to do with the villa in order to rebuild it to become contemporary. I gave Kemal my thoughts and he immediately transferred them into drawings and I challenged him to use his best knowledge in order to advise me how to best exploit the property.

Villa Siv was transferred from an older three bedroom villa into a contemporary four en-suite bedroom villa with large outdoor patios. The pool was also retiled and new stairs were built. “ We decided last year to have our villa in Kalamar renovated. We looked at one of the villas Kemal had built locally and because we were so impressed with the quality of the fixtures, fittings and workmanship we asked Kemal to take on the renovation for us.

At the initial stages of the project Kemal made many suggestions about how to best renovate the villa. He came up with imaginative ideas to remodel the whole property all of which maximised the villa’s potential to the full.

There was a totally professional approach from the outset to the completion of the work. Kemal communicated with us via WhatsApp throughout the whole project with very regular updates on progress including photos and videos so we knew what was going on every step of the way. Kemal advised us about fixtures and fittings available and all of his recommendations have been brilliant. It has to be said that he only works with quality materials. He has an excellent team of workers who take pride in the quality of their workmanship.

Kemal has been very helpful with so many things such as sourcing and taking delivery of furniture, organising the soft furnishings and taking delivery for us of many home decoration items. Nothing has been too much trouble.

“ We decided to buy Villa Kevic in September 2020 in the two weeks that we were allowed to come to Turkey before the Borders were closed as the UK cases of Covid rose. We had been coming to Kalkan since 2009 and wanted an Old Town Villa and one that needed total refurbishment. We finally found the Villa but had no idea who to choose to do the work! There was a pandemic - we couldn’t leave the UK or come to Turkey so it was to the internet we looked. And came across Kemal…….and thank goodness we did!

To say it has been a truly unique and amazing experience is an understatement. We had never met and yet we got to know each other and our tastes very quickly via Facetime and Whatsapp. We have been truly delighted with how our villa transformed in six months to what we are proud to say it looks today. I cannot recommend Kemal highly enough – he was superb throughout the whole experience – the attention to detail, ideas, professionalism, quality of work, solving of design and existing problems. “ We met Kemal when we viewed his amazing Villa Arcadia which had been newly constructed and was for sale. The quality of styling, design and workmanship impressed us that when we bought Kisla Falls we knew that he was the right person to project manage the extensive work we had planned.

Kemal is one of the most respected builders in Kalkan. He is a member to the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects and has extensive knowledge about all the important build details, as well as the small stuff. He manages villa lettings so he knows what matters for villa owners. He has fantastic local contacts, tradesmen and suppliers. Kemal has a keen eye for contemporary design, renovating villas and apartments to the highest standard.

We met with Kemal at various stages of the project and he gave us extensive time talking through ideas and options, as well as costing analysis. All stages of work were costed and time planned in a detailed spreadsheet and a completion date was agreed.

The property benefitted from some significant structural changes such as walls being removed and new walls being added, to maximise space and light. Kemal took care of everything, with every inch of the property being changed and upgraded.

This is a small sample of the work he did - retiling of shower floors with non slip marble tiles, retiling of bathroom walls with marble tiles, retiling all floor with new marble flooring, new kitchens, new worktops, new furniture, new sliding doors, new balustrades, plastering throughout, repainting throughout. More is planned and we know there is only one person we would trust this work to.

“ Over the winter months, we commissioned Kemal to carry out extensive renovations and building work in a huge unused room, under the terrace of Villa Dilara.

In the space, we created two new bedrooms, a new kitchen and a beautiful boutique spa bathroom. The brief was also to make the whole space completely wheelchair accessible. This included accessible ramps, hidden ceiling hoists and an accessible toilet. It was very important that this was all finished to a really high spec.

Kemal designed, built and managed the whole project and delivered the job on time, on spec and on budget. The completed project was beautifully designed and finished to a very high standard. His daily communication via e-mail and WhatsApp (Kalkan to London), in perfect English, was fantastic and I never once felt out of the picture. I was updated regularly with photographs and any changes or new ideas were communicated straight away. He was a pleasure to deal with. I can not recommend Kemal enough! “ I can highly recommend Kemal Tashan for his professionalism and expertise in his work. Having an indoor pool in our villa we wanted an air filtration and dehumidifier system that could manage the air supply in an environmental and comfortable way - we also extended this system throughout our basement floor and into some bedrooms. Kemal was extremely easy to work with - he gave us an initial detailed report on his findings and recommendations.

Having decided on how to proceed, Kemal then kept us fully informed throughout the project timescale - sending us photos of each stage of the work and explaining on the phone any issues that we needed more explanation on - he was extremely polite, speaks English fluently so he’s very easy to communicate with and he was very approachable to our questions.

Following the installation of the system Kemal did follow up with some visits to the villa to check on the system during the different seasons humidity levels to align the system to work to its maximum benefit.

“ We purchased our villa in October 2018 and commissioned the original builder, Kemal Taşhan to undertake a substantial renovation project. There was a lot of work to project manage, including a complete pool refurbishment with Roman steps, gutting and then fitting two high-spec new kitchens and three new bathrooms, new windows and sliding doors on two levels, a new front wall, glass panelling on the roof terrace to open up the views, custom-made wardrobes inside the villa, new flooring and lighting and creating a balcony for one of our bedrooms. We were wary of trying to manage such a large project from the U.K but we needn’t have worried! From the beginning we felt in safe hands with Kemal. He sent us literally hundreds of photographs throughout to keep us updated on progress and communicated with us, often more than once a day regarding choices of materials and fittings. We could not fault the quality of the work that was done and Kemal had access to a large team of highly qualified tradesman and craftsmen to carry it out on our behalf.

As with any building project, we had allowed a contingency budget, but in fact the work came in right on budget and we feel that we got a truly personal service for a fraction of the cost that we would have paid in the UK. However, more than this, Kemal also helped us with many things outside of the contracted works. He took us furniture shopping in Fethiye and was able to negotiate large discounts on our behalf, he ensured that our white goods and air-conditioning were properly serviced, he arranged for our soft furnishings, curtains, outside canopies and blinds to be measured and fitted and came with us to help us with choosing fabrics and communicating with shop-owners.

We really would have been unable to complete our project without Kemal and now consider him a good friend. His team now manage our property, maintaining it and dealing with rentals on our behalf and he has been very patient in explaining everything in that respect too. If you are considering a renovation project then we could not recommend Kemal highly enough. ”

“ Kemal did a very good job during the winter after we had made our contract. It was a lot of work for both of us – we had to make a lot of decisions during the rebuilding and renovation of our villa. We noticed that he always wanted to fulfil all our wishes with the highest engagement.

In the last week of April, our suspicion and curiosity grew higher and higher! After all, when we were there, we saw that everything was done in real high quality as we discussed it. We appreciate most that Kemal was so kind to change things that looked different in reality and internet.
